Our Community

Mallard Pointe is a small wooded residential community developed for 38 single-family residences providing extraordinary natural views and recreational opportunities. Situated on the shore of Lake James in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina, Mallard Pointe offers easy access to water sports, fishing, hiking and biking trails, camping, NC State Parks¸ Pisgah National Forest, the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and the Black Mountain Range that includes Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak in the eastern US. Conveniently four miles off of I-40 exit 94, we are 45 minutes east of Asheville, NC and 90 minutes northwest of Charlotte, NC. Mallard Pointe is midway between the local towns of Morganton and Marion, and both provide festivals, shopping, dining, and business opportunities for owners and residents.

Mallard Pointe home-sites offer either direct lake access with dock permitting or access to community docks for boating berths to enjoy Lake James, a 7,000 acre man-made lake with 150 miles of shoreline and stunning views of Short-Off and Table Rock mountains and of Grandfather Mountain.

The Community was established in 1996 and all residential property is privately owned by individuals, although at times some homes and lots do come on the sales market. All owners are members of the Mallard Pointe Owners Association, Inc that serves as the Community’s governing body.
